What resolution size does an image have to be to get it printed very large?
the setting on my digital camera is currently 2048 x 1536 and goes up to 3076 x 2304. i would like to get a picture or two printed that are around size 8 x 11 (or whatever the exact large size is, around that size). which resolution is best to get a normal picture quality when printed as a photo? would my current resolution print out decent quality pictures in that size? thank you!
I have always found it best to set your camera at the highest (in this case 3076 x 2304). This gives you the greatest flexibility for photos you want to print and allows some cropping if required.
The issue of course is that you need a bigger memory card for the same amount of photos but I think that this is worth it.
You have a 4:3 ratio camera (either an Olympus or a Point & Shoot), be careful when printing....an 11x8 will tend to squash the photo a little.
Always try and print out at the same size ratio as your camera. ie for your photos straight off the camera a 12"x9" would be ideal though not a standard size print. An 8x10 would be about the best compromise.
