What size can an adult blue crab (callinectes sapidus) grow to?
I know the minimum legal harvesting size in the Chesapeake Bay is 5 inches, but if left untouched, what's a reasonable size for an adult?
6.5 inches and above is considered a pretty large crab. Some have been measured as large as 10 or 11 inches.
(I've heard that the bigger ones sometimes have tougher meat, though.)
