Help with ideas in flattering different body shapes?
I'm in a young designers competition, and we have to design a cohesive collection of different outfits for each of the different body types. Wat do you think?
For hourglass, I have this tight black jersey with a black waist satin belt, with green jewels on the bottom of the skirt.
For pear I have black jeans, with green jewels at the bottom of the leg. I then have a crazy gold/black print peasant blouse.
For apple I have a black singlet with the green jewels on the straps, and the gold print fabric on the jeans with a frilly belt.
For petite I have a layered top and matching skirt out of black and black/print
For boyish I have a balloon skirt out of gold satin with tulle covering it and a black long sleeved top.
I'm at a bit of a loss for athletic and round. What should I do, like what to flatter?
As a general rule, for athletic bodies youre trying to create curves.
So a shirred or gather top on the shirt or dress will give the illusion of a fuller top, and a cinched middle will give the illusion of a more curvey bottom half.
With round layering is the go, but NOT TOO MUCH. If you want to use a shirt make sure it is an empire line or something that flows over the stomach. Otherwise put a shorter top over a longer one which breaks up the stomach and makes the person look less round.
