How much would it cost (rough estimate) to get a simple, long dress made?
I'm coming out in a waltz and we're all supposed to wear long black dresses. we're on our own for finding one, and i was thinking of getting one made because i can't find one in the store that i like.
I just want it to be strapless, sweetheart neckline, and fitted untill the thigh, and long. how much do you think a dressmaker would charge?
it really depends on the dressmaker. no matter who you go to, you will be required to pay for all the materials that the dressmaker uses. they will either go with you to the store, or pick up samples (for you to choose from) and get the supplies themselves.
then you have to pay for time/labor, which is the really variable part. some go by the hour, others charge by the piece. they will be able to quote you before they start work, so you know what you are getting into.
you can easily expect to to pay $300 or more (and that may not include materials). if budget is your prime concern, i suggest finding something in a store.
