How do I get my cancer friend to open up more?
I have a friend of mine who is soooooooooooooooooooooo fun when drunk. He's funny, outgoing, talkative and flirty. You would think that's his personality. However, when he's sober OMG he's sooooooooooo boring it's like watching paint dry. He'd say at least two words a week.
ROFL. I'm a Pisces too and I've been working on a particular Cancer friend for the last year or so. She's not boring when she's sober; she's great fun and amusing, she's just very secretive, especially about her emotions and she's not affectionate. I'm totally comfortable with giving and receiving affection and it is so hard to keep to myself for her comfort. But when she's drunk, she opens up heaps and is fine to hold your hand or hug you.
It's all a matter of making him feel comfortable and secure enough to show his true personality. It requires a lot of time, patience, assurance and gentle and subtle encouragement. I've made a bit of progress with my friend, and it's taken me over a year to get to this point. She tells me it takes her about 2 years in a friendship before she starts to trust someone enough to get close. It's hard work but it's worth it!
