Gritty burgundy wall?
I've got this wall in my house that the previous owners painted with a gritty burgundy paint. It even sparkles! I don't like it though and want to paint over it. Just so that I have a somewhat smoother finish. I realize that painting over won't make it completely smooth unless I sand the wall first. Do you think I could do it the other way (without sanding) and it still look ok (and be somewhat smoother since the new paint won't have the grit)? Also which color would you go with and what type of paint. I'm a new homeowner, so this is all new to me!
I'm seeing an answer with retexture...how would I retexture?
ok, so one way that you can paint your wall with out sanding it before you do so you can take some plaster and cover it. now this is a lot of work sanding is a little easier but you just buy some plaster, (you can even buy it in colors for your wall so you don't have to paint), but you plaster the whole wall and then smooth it out with a trowel and then once you have a solid coat that you think looks good, let it dry for how ever long the container the plaster came in says and then you can paint over it or let it be if you used the colored stuff. but i would just like to tell you that when you use the plastered walls you have to be carful because it is a little bit harder to hang things up on your wall because the surface may be alittle uneven if you arn't a prefesional and it is a harder surface so it will take some more strength, but other than that the wall will turn out perfect!
