I want to get a bridesmaid dress by Bari Jay. Has anyone ever had a good experience buying online?
I just looked on Google shopping for the style I like and it came up with websites like Beautifully Elegant, Perfect Bridal, Perfect Bridal, eBridalSuperStore, etc. Has anyone ever ordered a designer bridesmaid dress online to save money? I'm worried it will be some cheap knockoff.
If the retailer says it's a Bari Jay dress, most likely, it won't be a cheap knockoff. Bridesmaid dresses are almost always made to order, which means that the retailer doesn't actually have the dress in stock. When you place an order, the retailer facilitates your order by contacting the correct manufacturing company for the dress you ordered and that manufacturing company will make it. Bari Jay is a brand and in order for that retailer to actually sell a Bari Jay dress, they must have a relationship with Bari Jay. I would say the possibility of buying a "fake" Bari Jay bridesmaid dress is pretty low.
On the other hand, if your primary reason for shopping online is to save money, you may want to skip the brand names completely. Although China has been known for "cheap knockoffs," I gotta put a plug in for some Chinese companies today because they actually do make really good stuff. The materials are not cheaper; that's not what is giving you a lower price. It's the labor that is cheaper and because of that, you can buy a great bridesmaid dress from China at wholesale prices. In particular, Light in the Box (whose dresses you can find at the link below) has lots of great reviews for their dresses and they have a huge number of styles. You just might be able to find the same Bari Jay style for a fraction of the Bari Jay price. Use the style search on Shiny Orb to see if there's something similar.
